Time for Solid Food?
Most infants can start taking solid food from 6 months onwards although it is important to ensure that your baby can sit upright with assistance before offering her any solid food.
I started feeding my baby cereal from about 4 month onwards. I started with organic white and brown rice cereals. Then I offered her barley and oats cereals. Once it is ascertained that she is not allergic to any type of cereals, I began to feed her multi-grain cereals.
My principle is always to observe how ready your baby is to take solid. When I first introduced her to solid food, she was not too keen. She kept fussing for milk so I went slow with her. About one month later, she began to exibit stronger desire for solid food. That was when I gave her porridge.
Before cooking the porridge, I would grind the rice into powder so that it was easier to cook. I would add one green vegetable (broccoli, asparagus, spinach etc), one meat (fish or chicken), and sometimes carrot, punmpkin, corn, or even parsnip. I would also add ground green or red green, or even lentils.
The mix usually is very tasty and my baby loves it. Not to mention that it is extremely healthy too. I’m planning to introduce beef into her diet as I read that it has very high iron content and good for infant growth.

I buy carrots and boil them in advance then stick them in the fridge. They are a great snack for in between meals and my baby loves holding them. Healthy and convenient!
My daughter started at 7 months.
Thanks for sharing what you knew. It’s very helful. My baby is 4 months old and I really have no idea about feeding baby with solid foods.
